AERIAL, POLE AND ACROBATIC CLASSES
Below, please find descriptions of each apparatus type. Please see our Studio Schedule page for a list of times that each class is offered.
Aerial Silks (also called aerial fabric, aerial tissue or tissu) is a beautiful and physically demanding art form, popularized by Cirque du Soliel. Students will learn to climb, wrap, twist and drop, while manipulating the fabric to create eye-catching poses.
Lyra (also called aerial hoop, aerial ring or cerceau) is a large, steel hoop that can be utilized to swing, spin and flow. Students will learn to tame the hoop, creating mesmerizing shapes and exploring endless pathways.
POLE AND CHAIR
Pole and chair dance fitness presents complex physical movements, requiring deep strength and flexibility, combined with the grace and beauty of dance. We offer tricks based and dance based classes in this discipline, for students looking for a fitness-based approach or for students searching for a more sensual side of pole dance.
Aerial Hammock (also called aerial sling) utilizes the same fabrics as Aerial Silks, however they are rigged into a sling or "U" shape, creating a natural "seat" for students. This configuration makes Hammock a very approachable and accessible apparatus for students interested in aerial fabric style classes.
A blend of partner yoga and gymnastic like movements, Acro is a great way to develop total body strength and coordination. Working with one or more partners, students will learn safety, spotting, basing and flying through complex movement patterns. Acro is also a fantastic way to enhance communication skills and trust, in addition to making new friendships!
FLEXIBILITY AND CONTORTION
Flexibility & contortion provides benefits to everybody! Stretching and strengthening muscles has a lasting effect that will elevate student performance on any apparatus. Students will deepen their splits, increase backbends and build overall flexibility.
