Aerial Silks
It is uncertain who invented aerial silks or exactly when it was founded. The first documented mention of an aerial silks act was in 1959. When Cirque du Soleil was founded in the 1980s, they hired Andre Simard, who began to develop aerial arts into what we know today.
Our silks program offers students an accessible approach to the mesmerizing fabric modality that is aerial silks. Students will learn basic aerial safety and foundational silks skills low to the ground before progressing to increased height and higher complexity movements. Explore how to climb, wrap, twist and drop, while manipulating the fabric to create eye-catching poses and transitions.
